Addressing the critical insight that over 60% of food waste occurs at the consumer level, Aurora was conceived as a systemic intervention designed to reshape domestic consumption habits. By analyzing the domestic lifecycle of groceries, we developed a holistic system that bridges the gap between environmental intent and daily action to effectively re-engineer how users interact with their groceries.
The physical component challenges the archetype of traditional storage by integrating industrial-grade preservation technology into a seamless domestic form factor. The device utilizes an automated vacuum sealing mechanism coupled with UVC light sterilization to create a sterile and anaerobic environment that significantly extends shelf life. The industrial design prioritizes intuitive interaction and aesthetic minimalism to ensure that complex preservation technology feels like a natural and unobtrusive extension of the modern kitchen countertop.
